The tear trough is the deep hollow or crease between the lower eyelid and cheek. It casts a dark shadow and can give the impression of a tired or older appearance. In some individuals it is a genetic trait. In others, it is due to the ageing process, as the bone, fat compartments and soft tissues change in volume. In everyone, this area has the thinnest skin of any part of your body and will be one of the first areas to show signs of aging.

Dr Pratish will, in most cases, use a bio-stimulator called  Sunekos® first to tighten and improve the quality of the skin in the area. Then, once it has taken full effect, he may use a filler, placing it very carefully in this area. This can help to restore the bony and soft tissue structure to reduce the depth of the tear trough, thus making it look fuller and less dark and hollow. However, in many cases, the results from Sunekos® are so good that subsequent filler is not required.

Also, using a bio-stimulator first to prime the area means that less filler will be required, assisting a very natural look.

In the UK there is, at present, only one product specifically licensed for use in this area, Teosyal Redensity II®
